…Have come upon hard times.
…Have lost your house to foreclosure.
…Have been forced to raise your kids alone.
…Are living from one paycheck to the next.
…Have seen what little money you had sucked up by drugs and alcohol.
…Have thought about ending it all because life isn’t worth living.
…Are at the end of your rope.
After a life filled with pain and regret, you’re at the point where you wake up each morning and try to find a reason to live another day. You may feel like you’re in a hopeless situation. But there is good news: God loves you and wants to give you hope.
Maybe you don’t think God loves you because of the difficulties you are going through. But God proved just how much
He loves you when He gave His own Son, Jesus, to die for your sins.
But God commendeth [proved] his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)
There may be many people who have let you down. How will things be any different when you put your trust in Jesus Christ? You can trust in Jesus because He has never let anyone down.
The Bible says Jesus is the perfect Son of God Who left His home in Heaven to come to Earth over 2,000 years ago. He came to die on a cross to pay for our sins. As Jesus hung on the cross, suspended between God and man, He became the one thing God hates — sin — to free us from the penalty we deserved: death and separation from God in an eternal Hell.
For he [God] hath made him [Christ] to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
(2 Corinthians 5:21)
That’s right — everyone deserves to die to pay for their sins. Whether you’ve robbed someone, are abusing drugs or alcohol, have ever lusted, or anything else, you are a sinner. The Bible says we are all sinners who deserve the death penalty:
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; (Romans 3:23)
For the wages of sin is death… (Romans 6:23a)
We would have no hope if Jesus didn’t die for us. But He did, and after His death, He was buried and rose again in three days.
The resurrection of Christ proves that all the work necessary for our salvation was completed. We can have hope of eternal life — if we put our trust in Him.
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
When Jesus shed His blood for us, He paid for all of our sins — past, present, and future.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)
That is what “everlasting” means. We cannot lose what God says is forever, no
You probably feel like you’ve messed up a lot of things in your life. There is one thing you can’t mess up, and that’s your everlasting life. Jesus came to give you an eternal hope that cannot be lost — no matter what you do. There are still earthly consequences for all of our sins, but Jesus paid the great eternal consequence. What do you have to lose by accepting Him right now?
